THE coziest part OF OUR DALLAS PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO: THE living room

In the past couple of years, we’ve noticed a shift in the content that resonates with people - they want content that is authentic and relatable. Working as branding photographers in Dallas, we’ve seen this trend grow and we work to help our clients achieve this look and feel. A majority of our clients today want to have brand photoshoots that have a sense of personability and feel at-home. While this shift reflects the want for a genuine and approachable aesthetic, it also brought up an interesting challenge: creating an authentic, lived-in atmosphere without the hassle and expenses of renting an entire house for a photoshoot (no shade to the amazing houses that are available for photoshoot rentals in the DFW area). Seeing the practical limitations that renting a house can have, we wanted to step up and offer a solution - a dedicated living room setting in our studio space in Dallas.

We created this setting to offer Dallas photographers and creatives an accessible alternative to renting out houses without compromising on the desired aesthetic. Our living room setting is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, featuring a neutral palette that serves as a versatile backdrop, easily movable furniture to accommodate different creative visions, and carefully chosen decorations that add a touch of warmth and personality.

Versatile Backdrop

The versatility of our living room setting at Brightside Studios is in its neutral palette and soft, natural light. The neutral tones create a backdrop that is adaptable to various styles and themes, making it the perfect canvas for personal brands and family sessions alike. The neutrality of the space serves as a foundation that allows the unique elements of each shoot to shine through. The soft, natural light creates a gentle atmosphere that fits the authenticity of personal branding and the warmth of family moments. Our living room setting is a canvas that easily accommodates the diverse needs of our clients, giving them a comfortable and customizable setting where they can bring their visions to life.

Furniture

The furniture was chosen with both functionality and an aesthetic appeal in mind. The brown couch takes center stage, offering a versatile and easily movable element that adapts effortlessly to different shoot setups (if you move the furniture, please remember to put it back). The couch’s neutral color provides a timeless backdrop for a variety of themes, so it doesn’t overpower your shoot’s narrative.

Right next to the couch are side tables, additions that offer both utility and a touch of detail. There is a beautiful patterned black and white rug beneath that ties the space together, adding a subtle yet striking visual element that adds to the overall atmosphere. Two white minimalist chairs complete the ensemble, offering additional seating options while maintaining the cohesive, neutral theme. The living room setting is perfect for cozy family portraits and personal branding such as therapists, realtors, and lifestyle headshots. Every piece in the living was selected to contribute to the comfort and adaptability of the space, allowing photographers and their clients to seamlessly create different scenes and capture the essence of their subjects in a setting that feels at-home and genuine.

Props

The props in our living room setting at Brightside Studios were chosen to add a touch of character and authenticity to the space. Coffee table books, thoughtfully strategically placed, offer a sense of homeliness and provide an extra layer of  interest to the space. Wall art contributes to the ambiance and breaks up the space with its neutral aesthetics that complement different shoot themes. Our plants add a refreshing and natural element to the space, and we have a giant mirror that serves both practical and aesthetic purposes, and provides creative framing possibilities. We have small knick-knacks scattered strategically around the setting that give the space an even more lived-in feel. Each prop is intentionally selected to add to the overall atmosphere, creating a space that feels familiar and lived-in, adding depth and personality to every photoshoot.

We’re incredibly proud of the space that we have built in our studio (a lot of love went into it), and we’re excited to continue to see how people make the space their own.
