THE HEART OF OUR DALLAS PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO: THE Kitchenette

At Brightside Studios, we understand the challenges branding photographers face when searching for the right kitchen space for branding and food-related photoshoots. Often, these spaces are either too small because they are located in someone's home or lack the right amount of natural light for a successful shoot. These limitations often end up stifling your creative freedom and can also affect the quality of your images.

Listening to these frustrations voiced by photographer after photographer inspired us to take matters into our own hands and create a solution within our Dallas photo studio. Our goal was to build a dedicated kitchenette space that was functional, versatile, and embodied a modern and neutral aesthetic. We envisioned a space that was flooded with natural light and spacious enough to cater the different ideas and needs of photographers.

To create our kitchenette, we included floating shelves, a clean white tile backsplash, a huge island for seating, and a stocked fridge. Building the space ourselves gave us the opportunity to pay attention to every detail in the space. Each element in our kitchenette space was designed for versatility, making sure that photographers could find all they needed in a single spot. The floating shelves not only add to the modern look of the space, but they also provide styling space that photographers and clients can use during their shoots. The huge island and abundant countertop space offer flexibility for different creative setups, whether it's for food styling or product photography. Our floor-to-ceiling windows are right next to the kitchenette space and they flood the kitchen with natural light, ensuring that all your shots are consistently well-lit.

Last month, we put our kitchenette space to the test by hosting a health and wellness brand photoshoot for Liz Swail, the co-founder of Alive and Well. This wellness center offers a wide range of services, including yoga, acupuncture, and massages, all focused on promoting well-being. For her branding photoshoot, Liz needed to highlight the products and brands that help her and her family maintain a healthy lifestyle. These products ranged from essential vitamins to wholesome snacks that she uses in her day-to-day life. Our kitchenette space was the ideal setting to beautifully showcase these products and brands, capturing the essence of health and wellness Liz’s brand embodies. With its natural light and versatile setup, our kitchenette offered the perfect backdrop for her to convey her brand’s messages.

Seeing how the versatility of the space was put to use during Liz's shoot was exciting. The island was used to create a scene in which Liz and her daughter talked about some of the vitamins their family took. There was more than enough room for her daughter to sit on the island, adding a fun and intimate touch to the photos. The cabinet tops and floating shelves were the perfect backdrop for a lifestyle shot, with Liz sitting on the counter, holding her water bottle and showcasing one of the featured products.

The abundance of natural light coming in through the studio's windows ensured Liz's photos were consistently well-lit, allowing the vibrant colors of her outfit and the products to shine. The convenience of having everything needed for Liz's photoshoot in one spot made the entire process efficient, hassle-free, and inspired creativity.

We knew that our kitchenette space would be an invaluable asset to our photography studio, and Liz's shoot reinforced that belief for us. It was wonderful to see how easily all the elements of the kitchenette came together to elevate Liz's shoot and add a touch of intimacy to it. The versatile space, flooded with natural light, demonstrated its capacity to meet the diverse needs of different projects.
